What To Expect From Aamir Khan’s Dangal Trailer
Aamir Khan starrer Dangal’s trailer is slated for release tomorrow. We list a few reasons why we can’t wait!
Dangal has been in news since the time Aamir Khan announced the project in 2015. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie charts the life of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his champion daughters including Commonwealth medallists Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. The film grabbed a lot of headlines for its casting choices. While names like Tapsee Pannu and Akshara Haasan were reportedly considered for the role of the sisters, it eventually landed with Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Ananya. Sakshi Tanwar plays Aamir Khan’s wife while Vivan Bhatena is the antagonist. What are we expecting from the trailer? A lot of grit, a whole lot of heart and the following:
1. A Spectacular Transformation From Aamir

Aamir Khan will be essaying two versions of the character in the movie. To play a 60-year-old father he gained 30 kilos and then got buff again to play the younger version of Phogat, a 20-year-old budding wrestler. Aamir’s physical transformations are well-documented and he is known to go to great lengths to achieve the right look for his roles. Even more exciting is that Aamir Khan will be playing a villager onscreen, more than a decade after his acclaimed turn in Lagaan.
2. A First Look At Promising Debutants

While a lot of young heroines were pining for the role of Aamir’s daughters, debutants, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra were the lucky girls to bag the spot. The girls, who look fierce in the Dangal poster seem set to impress all of us. Backed by a script which underlines the empowerment of women and a long prep, we are sure that the wait for these new faces will be worth it.
3. Rousing Wrestling Scenes

This sports movie is sure to have some gripping wrestling matches. With the narrative revolving around a father’s quest to break the gender divide in sports, we are pretty sure that the film will offer some well-shot bouts and a nail-biting climax!
4. The Desi Touch

Last time we saw Aamir Khan as a villager was in Lagaan. Back in 2001, his earthy look and desi dialogues coupled with the innocence of a peasant was an instant hit. Here too, we expect Aamir Khan and Sakshi Tanwar, who plays his wife, to give us some very interesting dialogues, songs and drama amidst real Haryanvi locales. After all, ‘Akhaara hai tayyar, kal hai Dangalvar’
5. Amitabh Bhattacharya’s Songs

If you have been crushing on Amit Trivedi’s songs from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, then Dangal’s music will be right up your alley. Even though Pritam is the music composer, the lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya, one of the finest wordsmiths we have in our industry. We are sure the songs of Dangal would rule the charts too.
